outdoor furniture brands to invest in
We carefully curate our store, choosing pieces that are beautiful, functional and adhere to the design principles that we live by, using durable materials and are often pieces that can be used and adapted to suit different situations. If there’s something you know you’d like that you can’t find, use the chat box below or send us an email as we might be able to help you source it.Of course the place to start is to really consider the space you have, how the light works and how it flows and how much time you spend out there.
Balconies and spaces with a small footprint will suit stackable furniture such as Hay Palissade chairs. Read: Outdoor furniture for small spaces
For small gardens that want compact dining and lounge sets we recommend Hay Balcony square table, Case Eos table and Hay Ceramic table.
Larger spaces can take larger lounging sets and recliners like the Hay Palissade Chaise Longue, CH Ah604 Lounger and Case Eos Sofa (Eos is named after the Greek goddess of dawn).
Much of the furniture that we love at Cimmermann is timeless but also seasonless. In Scandinavia, where the seasons are much less temperate than ours, the cultural traditions have long been rooted in living outdoors in all seasons.
With a thoughtful approach, well-placed coverings and shelters and the addition of outdoor fires means that we are entertaining in all seasons, and most of our furniture will work as well in a cosy winter setting as it will in the summer.
Natural and beautiful wood, including Fritz Hansen Skagerrak, Carl Hansen AH Series, Hay Crate and Case Tanso all use wood that is sustainable and certified, using durable and weather proof wood like teak and pine.
Metal and powder coated steel garden furniture is popular for its ability to withstand harsh northern winters but allows light to shine through and therefore doesn’t look too bulky. Some of our favourites include Kartell Hiray, Hay Palissade and Hay Balcony, Norman Copenhagen Vig and Case Eos. Each has a distinctive aesthetic and are designed with comfort in mind.
The modern Scandinavian brands using sustainable plastic created from waste include the Normann Copenhagen Bit range which work brilliantly outside and inside, so you get the maximum flexibility and use out of the things you buy.

HAY balcony collection
The Hay Balcony range is a versatile addition to any outdoor space. The Balcony collection by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, is defined by the use of symmetrical holes, adding softness to the metal structure and added durability, the timeless design is suitable for all kinds of outdoor spaces and is crafted from durable, weatherproof powder-coated steel that is hard-wearing enough for even the British weather.
Harry Bertoia's delicately industrial Side Chair, designed in 1960, is among the most recognised achievements of mid-century modern design.
Like Saarinen and Mies, Bertoia found sublime grace in an industrial material, elevating it beyond its normal utility into a work of art.
The frame is a welded steel construction with rods in Rilsan, a very durable and adhesive fused nylon-dipped finish. Because its scratch, chip, and chemical resistant it's very suitable for outdoor use and is an immediately recognisable piece of design loved worldwide.
Equally recognisable as an icon of outdoor furniture to design appreciators is the Bubble Club sofa, with its rotational moulding technology.
Designed by Philippe Starck it won the "Compasso D'Oro" Award for design in 2001. A large two-seater sofa, characterised by the soft line of the armrests which contrast with the more rational line of the backrest; an essential silhouette, reminiscent of “grandma's sofa”. Bubble Club joins the armchair and occasional table, made in the same finishes and colours, to become a real family, an "industrial lounge" for furnishing a garden, a poolside or a terrace.
The Hay Palissade cord family is new for 2025 and reworks the Palissade Family with a softer and more inviting aesthetic. The Palissade Cord collection still retains the strong, graphic lines of the iconic Palissade design, but has been covered with a handwoven recycled polyester cord that offers both durability and even more comfort. The Palissade Cord family is designed to fit in a wide variety of indoor or outdoor environments including cafés, restaurants, gardens and terraces. A slimline profile with a nod to the furniture seen in and around Paris parks.

The new traverse range designed for HAY by Erwan Bouroullec, is a range of outdoor furniture designed to seamlessly blend in wherever it is placed. Comprising a die-cast aluminium frame with slats in heat-treated ash, the furniture combines a robust construction with an inviting expression that naturally patinas to become more beautiful over time.
