De la Espada + Craft

A contemporary European artisan, De La Espada places craftsmanship at the heart of its furniture. Their solar-powered workshop in Portugal is dedicated to solid wood and upholstery, where skilled craftspeople blend advanced machinery with traditional handcraft to achieve the highest standards of European craftsmanship. They collaborate with independent artisans and small workshops across various disciplines to enrich their offering.

Every piece of De La Espada furniture is made to last a lifetime, using noble materials that age beautifully and construction techniques proven over generations, including mortise and tenon, wedge tenon, dovetail, and lap joints. These exceptionally strong wood-to-wood connections, bonded with water-based wood glue, deliver deep, durable bonds and exceptional structural integrity.

In their Portuguese workshop, designers, engineers, and craftspeople work side by side, solving design challenges in real time. This close collaboration fosters thoughtful innovation and allows for meticulous attention to detail in every piece they create.
