About Flos

Flos Lighting was founded in 1962 in Merano Italy, to produce modern, contemporary lighting. To develop new lighting concepts, they enlisted the aid of Achille Castiglioni, Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and Tobia Scarpa. Over 50 years later Flos are still producing classic lights from the 20th Century and creating new cutting edge designer lights.

The Glo-Ball by Jasper Morrison is a sought-after 90s classic and the Bellhop Table Light is a customer favourite - a modern classic designed by Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby. Plus Flos Snoopy, designed in 1967 to give a soft glow with its distinctive Snoopy shade set on a white Carrara marbles base.

A bright idea : at the beginning of the 60's Mr Gavina with Merano Eisenkeil decided to enlist the masters of design, the Castigilioni brothers and Afra and Tobia Scarpa to create some new lighting designs. Among their first designs were Taraxacum and Fantasma which are still in production today. arco, design icon since 1962

In 1962 the iconic Arco floor lamp was designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. This was a time of social transformation which saw a shift towards open and adaptable living spaces. The Arco was the perfect solution.
It allowed for a freestanding solution which eliminated the need for ceiling lighting, it that could light any space without the constraints of fixed electrical points or the need to drill holes. To mark the fiftieth birthday of the Arco – Flos paid tribute to its best-known lamp, by launching a new version, Arco LED, enhanced with themost advanced and high performance lighting technology.
