Introduce natural texture and sculptural Danish design to your interior with the Fritz Hansen PK20 Wicker Lounge Chair by Poul Kjærholm.
Designed in 1968, the PK20 reflects Kjærholm’s distinctive approach to furniture, bringing together traditional woven material and precisely engineered steel in a relaxed yet carefully balanced form.
The seat and back are handcrafted in natural wicker, creating a tactile surface with subtle variations in tone and weave. Its lower backrest and open silhouette give this version a lighter, more informal appearance than the upholstered leather model. Beneath it, the flexible matt-chromed spring-steel frame provides a refined structural contrast, with slender lines that allow the woven form to remain the visual focus.
The PK20 is well suited to reading corners, living rooms and thoughtfully designed lounge areas. Its natural finish pairs beautifully with timber, stone, linen and other tactile materials, while the polished metal frame introduces a contemporary edge. Equally effective as a standalone accent chair or alongside a carefully curated furniture collection, it brings warmth without visual heaviness.
Poul Kjærholm’s design philosophy is evident in the restrained use of materials and the relationship between structure and surface. Rather than relying on ornament, the PK20 achieves its character through proportion, craftsmanship and the contrast between organic wicker and cool steel.

Poul Kjærholm was a trained carpenter and continued his studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. He had a particular interest in different construction materials; especially steel which he considered a natural material with the same artistic fineness as other natural materials. He was employed at Fritz Hansen for about a year, where he designed a number of note-worthy furniture pieces - "The Kjærholm Collection", developed from 1951 to 1967 these designs have an aura of exclusivity.
