&Tradition + Robin Day

We are so happy to introduce you to the new &Tradition Robin Day collection, available onlinenow.

&Tradition have a history of reissuing classics and Robin Day is one of the UK’s best loved modern designers, best known for his work on London’s Festival Hall. Matt and I were hugely excited to see the collection for real in &traditions showroom on our recent trip to Copenhagen.

Some of these pieces are available to purchase for the very first time, so it’s a real opportunity to invest in a piece of history.

All the pieces are stand-out and have been created in collaboration with Paula Day and the Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation to reintroduce six of Robin’s designs from 1951, his breakthrough year when he was appointed to design the seating for Royal Festival Hall.

Royal Festival Hall

Originally created for the interior and exterior of Royal Festival Hall, this collection has soft curves, is rich in materiality and striking. The RFH armchair is notable for its process, form-press moulding layers of beech and walnut veneer.
The RFH lounge chair is low and compact and will fit into modest spaces.

The RFH Terrace chairis small in proportion and crafted from a combination of teak slats and a solid steel frame that matches the RFH Terrace Table that is made from black, powder-coated steel for durability.

Daystak

Daystak, originally known as Hillestak after Hille, the British Furniture brand, was inspired by the potential of moulded plywood and the ethos of the Museum of Modern Art’s 1948 Low-Cost Furniture Competition where Day and his partner Clive Latimer won first prize for their set of modular wooden units.

Daystak is inspired by the notion of flexible design and features striking A-shaped legs with both the desk and table having a distinct mid-century aesthetic.
