We want to highlight to you some beautiful new sofas weve added to our website - Plump and FAT - by Tom Dixon, including his first ever modular sofa that we are pretty sure you will love as much as we do.
FAT sofa
This is Tom Dixon’s first modular sofa, and it’s brilliant.
“In the FAT collection, we felt the need for a piece that prioritised proper comfort. Given its inherent modularity, we’ve often experimented with FAT by combining two loungers to create a Love Seat. This led us to envision it as a modular system, and that’s exactly what we’ve developed.
As we rounded off the FAT collection, including FAT Work, we recognised the need for a piece that focused on the comfort expected from a sofa in a domestic setting. Hence, the FAT sofa was born.
Being a fully modular system, it offers great adaptability. The FAT sofas feature a steel leg base, maintaining the aesthetic coherence with the rest of the FAT range. This comprehensive, versatile system is equally at home as a ‘living island’ in residences or in expansive configurations in Plump sofa, lobbies, and office breakout areas.”
Plump sofa
The plump sofa is 100% responsibly sourced and made from FSC-certified mix timber sourced from forests in Europe with responsible management that reduces deforestation and ensures the forests’ future preservation.
“The reference point is the Chesterfield, a traditional English typology that has remained a British classic for centuries. We aimed to create something reminiscent of this design in terms of proportions but with a distinct departure in appearance. Specifically, we envisioned a lowback that envelops you, serving as our starting point.
With plump, we sought to imbue it with a modern essence, stripping away any ornamental details and focusing solely on the essentials. This led us to embrace simple outlines, a semi-circular profile, and straight lines.
Despite its generous appearance, the construction is relatively lightweight, tailored to meet a specific price point. Its dimensions ensure it can seamlessly integrate into any home. Though not strictly modular, it offers various configurations, allowing it to transform into an ‘L-Shape’ or function as a 2.5 or 3-seater. Despite its ample size, it maintains a balance, complementing rather than overpowering the room. Versatile enough to complement any aesthetic, it is available in a wide range of fabrics and materials.”
