Tom Dixon Melt Mini Smoke Suspension Light

Designer
Tom Dixon

With the new Melt collection Tom Dixon experiments with the technologically advanced field of vacuum metallisation. Melt Mini Light is a distorted lighting globe born from their collaboration with Swedish radical design collective Front. This unique light is translucent when on and mirror finish when off. An alternative and funky twist on Tom Dixon's Copper and Mirroball lights.

Tom Dixon, OBE is a self-taught British designer. He is currently the Creative Director of the brand 'Tom Dixon' specialising in Lighting, Furniture and Accessories. He has taken Tom Dixon the brand from a small business operation to an international brand in the space of 20 years.

He rose to prominence in the mid 1980s as a maverick, an untrained designer with a line in welded salvage furniture. While working with the Italian giant Cappellini he designed the widely acclaimed ‘S’ Chair.  In the late 90's Tom became Creative Director at Habitat, responsible for rejuvenating the brand while maintaining Terence Conran's vision of enriching everyday life through simple, modern design.  He received an OBE in 2000 for his work and dedication to the world of design.
