The Knoll MR Low Table by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is a study in geometry, proportion and material.
Designed in 1929, it belongs to the MR collection, in which Mies explored how industrial steel could be shaped into elegant, sculptural furniture.
Its low, circular profile gives the design a different character from a conventional coffee table, with the emphasis firmly on the relationship between the frame and the glass surface. A 12mm polished plate-glass top rests on a welded steel structure combining tubular and rectangular sections. The mirror-polished finish catches the light, while the transparent surface allows the intricate base to remain visible. At 72.5cm in diameter, the table provides a practical surface without a heavy visual footprint.
The MR Low Table works particularly well alongside modernist lounge chairs and low seating, where its reflective finish and precise construction can be appreciated. The Knoll Studio logo and Mies van der Rohe’s signature are stamped onto the base, confirming its authenticity.
Materials:Frame and legs are tubular and rectangular steel welded together, polished mirror finish. Top in 12mm thick polished plate glass.
Dimensions: 72.5cm Diameter x 52cm High

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe was a German-American architect. He was commonly referred to as Mies, his surname. Along with Alvar Aalto, Le Corbusier, Walter Gropius and Frank Lloyd Wright, he is regarded as one of the pioneers of Modernist Architecture & Design. His Barcelona chair is one of modern design's true classics, often imitated but never bettered.
