Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld are an iconic design duo from the bygone days of classic Scandinavian design. They are perhaps most regarded for their work on the Result Chair and Pyramid collection of tables and benches, recently re-imagined by Hay. The Result Chair in particular is an excellent display of the pair’s ingenuity, creating a tremendously functional chair while being sparing in their use of materials, leaving the finished product with an aesthetically pleasing form, while retaining high levels of functionality. This combination allowed the Result Chair to be produced for use in schools in the Netherlands throughout the 1960s and 1970s, leaving a lasting impression on a generation of Dutch people, as the chair was a feature in their daily lives.
