The HAY Connect Bed in 160 × 200cm is a contemporary bed frame by Danish designer Leif Jørgensen, characterised by its precise geometry and distinctive industrial detailing.
Rather than relying on decorative features, the design draws attention to the construction itself, with clean steel lines and visible connections giving the frame an understated architectural presence. Its balanced proportions make it a considered choice for modern bedrooms where simplicity and functionality are equally important.
The frame is assembled from four powder-coated steel components: two side rails and two end rails, which slot together and are secured with eight exposed screws. These carefully engineered connections form an integral part of the aesthetic, reflecting the designer’s interest in combining traditional construction principles with modern manufacturing techniques. Wooden bed slats are included, providing the foundation for a comfortable and supportive sleeping arrangement (please note no mattress is supplied with the bed).
Accommodating a 160 × 200cm mattress, this version of the HAY Connect Bed offers a spacious double sleeping area while maintaining a streamlined footprint. Its selection of contemporary colour finishes makes it easy to introduce into a variety of bedroom schemes, from pared-back Scandinavian interiors to more expressive modern spaces. A practical and visually distinctive bed frame, it demonstrates how thoughtful engineering can become a defining feature of furniture design.
