Inspired by the idea of translating movement into physical form, the Fritz Hansen Suspence Pendant Light by Danish-Italian design studio GamFratesi brings sculptural simplicity and refined illumination to contemporary interiors.
Introduced in 2013, its softly curved silhouette appears to flow seamlessly from the suspension cord into the shade, creating an elegant, uninterrupted form.
The defining detail is the small, tapered tip at the top of the shade, a subtle expression of the pulling force that inspired the design. Crafted from lacquered aluminium, the pendant combines a smooth, organic profile with a considered monochromatic finish, allowing the shade and colour-coordinated cord to read as one continuous gesture. At the heart of the design is the innovative Infinity Diffuser. Positioned beneath the shade, it helps concentrate the light downwards while reducing glare, creating a soft, comfortable illumination for everyday living. The diffuser can also be removed when a more direct, concentrated light is desired, offering flexibility to suit different settings.
Available in two sizes and a selection of contemporary finishes, the Suspence Pendant adapts effortlessly to a variety of interiors. The smaller P1 is ideal for intimate spaces, bedside lighting or hanging in multiples, while the larger P2 makes a confident statement above a dining table, kitchen island or living area. Suspended individually or arranged in a considered row, the pendants create a balanced lighting scheme with a strong architectural presence.

GamFratesi Studio was founded in 2006 by Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi. The studio is based in Copenhagen, though the duo are continuously traveling between Italy and Denmark for development and research of new projects for brands including Gubi and Hay. Gamfratesi won the Young Designer Talent of the Year at the Elle Decoration International Design Awards 2013.
