Bring an icon of Scandinavian design into your home with the Fritz Hansen Superellipse B611 Table, designed by Piet Hein in collaboration with Arne Jacobsen and Bruno Mathsson.
Combining distinctive geometric form with everyday practicality, this 135cm designer dining table offers a timeless centrepiece for contemporary dining rooms, kitchens and thoughtfully designed interiors.
Inspired by the Superellipse roundabout developed by Piet Hein for Sergels Torg in Stockholm to combat traffic problems, the table is celebrated for its elegant, softly curved rectangular silhouette. Its harmonious proportions create a refined alternative to a traditional rectangular dining table, while the gently rounded edges lend a softer, more inviting feel to the dining space. Part of Fritz Hansen's renowned Table Series, the Superellipse B611 balances understated elegance with functional design. The 135cm tabletop offers a versatile solution for everyday dining, working from home or gathering with friends and family. Its considered shape encourages conversation and creates a natural sense of connection around the table.
Crafted with a durable laminate tabletop, a distinctive aluminium edge and a choice of chromed or powder-coated steel legs, the Fritz Hansen Superellipse table reflects the Danish brand's commitment to quality materials and enduring design. The clean lines and carefully balanced construction allow it to complement a wide range of dining chairs, from iconic Scandinavian designs to contemporary upholstered seating.
Measuring 135cm long, the B611 is an excellent choice for smaller dining rooms and kitchen-diners where considered proportions matter. Its sculptural form makes a statement without overwhelming the space, bringing together practicality, craftsmanship and the unmistakable character of authentic Danish design.
Piet Hein was neither an architect nor a furniture designer - but a philosopher, poet and mathematician. He created the Superellipse as a new oval shape for the Sergel's Square in Stockholm. In cooperation with the Swedish designers, Bruno Mathsson and Arne Jacobsen, he later used the shape for the Super Ellipse Table Series which Fritz Hansen put in production in 1968.
