Flos Smithfield Light LED is designed by Jasper Morrison and looks great in any environment - restaurant, bar, kitchen, living room etc. Morrison reveals that his inspiration came from looking at the lights in London’s Smithfield meat market.
The body of the light is made of aluminium and comes in three glossy colours. The diffuser that sits at the bottom of the shade hides the LED element and almost makes you unsure where the light source is coming from. This new updated LED version eliminates the need for changing bulbs.
Material:Aluminium body. Injection-moulded opalescent methacrylate diffuser. Steel ceiling attachment with steel suspension cable. Three-pole electric cable in PTFE double insulation, working length 400 cm.
Known for thinking outside the box, Jasper Morrison is one of the most successful industrial designers of the past few decades. Together with his colleague Naoto Fukasawa, he defined the term 'super normal', which in his opinion answers the question of what 'good design' should really be.
In his work, he strives to create good examples of understated, useful and responsible design. His designs are represented in New York's Museum of Modern Art and other prominent museum collections around the world.
One of our favourites, the Glo Ball collection is a piece of classic 90s design that feels current today and his collections for Vitra include the Vitra HAL Ply Chair.
