Michael Anastassiades has a masters Degree in Industrial Design from the Royal College of Art in London. After working freelance with various renowned Design practices he set up his own studio in 1994. Since then, he has been exploring contemporary notions of culture and aesthetics through a combination of product, furniture and environmental design. Playfully positioned between fine Art and Design his unique, yet discreet work seeks to provoke dialogue, participation and interaction out of what would normally be a series of, inanimate, mundane utilitarian objects. Using a minimal language he personalises these objects, giving them identity and vitality they might otherwise not possess. His work is featured in the permanent collections of the MoMA (New York) the V&A (London) and the Crafts Council (London). His products for Flos are fast becoming design classics with there magical and elegant design.
