The &Tradition Little Petra Lounge Chair by Viggo Boesen is an iconic Danish design classic, originally created in 1938.
A beautifully compact and exceptionally comfortable lounge chair, Little Petra combines a soft, organic form with the distinctive character of Boesen’s celebrated 1930s “funkis style”.
First presented at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition, the Little Petra Chair received immediate praise before going on to win awards in New York and Berlin. Despite its generous, embracing shape, its surprisingly compact proportions make it easy to place in living rooms, bedrooms, reading corners and other cosy spaces. Low to the ground and wonderfully inviting, Little Petra has been carefully designed for relaxed seating, with generous cushioning and soft upholstery that you can sink into.
The natural character of the design is complemented by beautifully crafted oak or walnut legs, adding warmth and texture to its sculptural form. Read more about Little Petra, its history and design.

Viggo Boesen is a relatively little known architect who contributed to Denmark’s signature design aesthetic in the 1930s. In particular, his work reflected Scandinavian ‘Funkis’ style, a Nordic take on Art Deco. In contrast to mass-produced materials and the less-is-more approach from the Bauhaus school of thought, Boesen brought a soft, warm and almost naive aspect to design, ushering in new forms of upholstered furniture. Only a few of his designs were ever produced, yet Boesen’s original ideas, organic shapes and expressive design lingo were precursors to Denmark’s subsequent stance on modernism in the decades that followed.
