Børge Mogensen’s Deck Chair was originally designed in the 1960s for his private balcony and was re-introduced by Carl Hansen in 2020. With its folding function and angular frame, the BM5568 Deck Chair profiles an inviting and comfortable seat in untreated, FSC®-certified teak.
The design is characterised by its clarity and function to be admired for years to come. The FSC®-certified teak design invites the user to sit down and relax in the garden or by a pool and thanks to the curvy wooden slats that are shaped to follow the natural curves of the body. Crafted with a generous, reclining seat and a frame angled for comfort - and with the option to add a padded fabric cushion for additional support - the functional and flexible chair can easily be moved to catch the best light. When not in use, it can be folded flat and stored away or hung on a wall as a decorative feature. The carefully crafted details are a nod to the designer’s background as a cabinetmaker and draw clear stylistic references to the American Shakers and 19th Century English furniture design.

Børge Mogensen’s (1914-1972) creative process produced long-lasting pieces with humans at the centre. He became a highly influential post-war designer and a leading representative of Danish Modern.
