The Carl Hansen OW224 Rungstedlund dining table was designed by Ole Wanscher in 1962 and has a scluptural elliptical form. The table was intended for the dining room of the Danish Academy in the Rungstedlund estate.
Wanscher was commissioned to create a table fit for suitable occasions in the grand dining hall and their distingushed guests in this exclusive location. The elliptical table highlights minimalist design, with Wanscher taking inspiration from 18th-century English furniture, evident in the slender legs and curved silhouette. The table highlights sculptural forms and the effortless precision involved in making it which is visible in every aspect of the design.
Material: Table base in solid wood Oak Oil. Top and optional extension leaf in wood veneer or MDF in grey or Black. The table is available with or without one leaf extension that stows neatly under the tabletop.

Ole Wanscher (1903-1985) was integral to the core aesthetic and functionality of modern Danish design. He studied under Kaare Klint at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and later worked at Klint’s design studio before becoming an independent furniture designer. He helped shape Danish furniture design as a designer and as an educator when he took over Klint’s professorship at the Academy.
