The House of Finn Juhl Nyhavn Desk with Warm Drawers is an iconic piece of Danish modern furniture, combining clean architectural lines, thoughtful functionality and the distinctive design details of renowned Danish architect and furniture designer Finn Juhl.
Originally designed in 1945, the Nyhavn Desk brings timeless Scandinavian style to the home office, executive workspace or contemporary study.
Inspired by the understated modernism of his American contemporaries, Finn Juhl created a desk that balances practical working space with a refined, sculptural aesthetic. Its generous tabletop rests on an elegant steel frame with wooden feet, creating a sense of visual lightness while maintaining a strong architectural presence. The restrained silhouette allows the quality of the materials and the precision of the construction to take centre stage.
Suspended beneath the desk using discreet brackets, the drawers appear to float within the frame, reinforcing the design’s light, uncluttered appearance. Their carefully selected colours introduce a subtle touch of warmth and personality, transforming a functional storage feature into an integral part of the desk’s design.
Available with an oak, walnut or black linoleum tabletop and a choice of black or orange painted steel frame, the Nyhavn Desk can be tailored to complement a variety of interior schemes. The combination of rich wood tones, refined metalwork and colourful drawer fronts creates a distinctive balance between Scandinavian restraint and expressive modern design.
With its generous proportions and integrated storage, the Finn Juhl Nyhavn Desk is well suited to contemporary home offices, creative studios and professional workspaces. Its timeless character works equally well in minimalist interiors and more eclectic settings, offering a practical and elegant foundation for everyday work.

Finn Juhl (1912-1989) was the first Danish furniture designer to be recognized internationally. He studied architecture at the Royal Academy in Copenhagen with Danish architect Vilhelm Lauritzen, but as a furniture designer he was self-taught, a fact he always emphasized.
Juhl began designing furniture in the late 1930s, in the beginning mostly pieces intended for himself, but after setting up his own office in 1945 he soon became known for his unusual, expressive and sculptural pieces.
One of Finn Juhl's most well-known pieces is the Chieftains Chair. Designed in 1949, it is a fine example of Juhl's great idea of separating the sculpturally shaped seat and back from the wooden frame.
