Hay Petit Standard Chair

Developed over an eight-year design process, the chair combines a distinctive architectural frame with natural oak detailing, resulting in a contemporary seating design that balances visual lightness with impressive structural strength.

Its defining feature is the three-dimensional triangular framework, constructed from rigid steel tubes connected by precision-engineered die-cast aluminium joints. This innovative construction eliminates the need for visible welds, creating a clean and uninterrupted silhouette. The high-backed seat and backrest are crafted from lacquered oak veneer, introducing natural warmth and texture against the industrial character of the metal frame. The gently curved seat and elevated backrest provide additional comfort, while the carefully engineered structure allows multiple chairs to be stacked conveniently when not in use.

Available in a selection of coordinated frame and oak finishes, the HAY Petit Standard Chair is equally suited to contemporary dining spaces, meeting rooms, educational environments and commercial interiors. Combining refined Scandinavian aesthetics with practical stackable functionality, it is a versatile design that makes an impression without unnecessary decoration.
