The Kartell Earl of Wood Desk is the brain child of Philippe Starck, with a simple design and a curved wooden surface it offers the perfect solution for the Home Office.
The desk is part of a series of 'Smartwood' designs by Kartell, a patented wood bending technology that enables Kartell to create unprecedented curvature in furniture design. Smart Wood is the fusion of wood fused together with Kartell's clever technological know how. This practice is part of the 'Kartell Loves The Planet' philosophy - aimed at enhancing good practices for sustainability throughout the production process in the use of raw materials, coupled with low environmental impact. Smartwood comes in 2 different options - Veneer or Slatted Ash. Basic veneer is plywood overlaid in beech whereas slatted ash has a more visible grain due to the stripping and cutting of the trunk. Veneer has a more uniform colour due to the nature of the wood whereas slatted ash is more varied due to the woods grain and veins, making each desk unique. a philosophy that is central to the “Kartell loves the planet” campaign.
