The OW58 T-Chair designed by master craftsman Ole Wanscher has a distinctive look that was originally conceived in 1958. The chair takes its name from its distinctive T-shaped backrest and is characterised by beautiful carpentry and a fusion of classic and modern lines.
The Carl Hansen & Son OW58 T-Chair is manufactured at Carl Hansen & Son’s Gelsted factory, where skilled joiners and craftsmen work closely to replicate Ole Wanscher’s original design. The only adjustment is in the chair’s height which has been increased by an inch to enhance the chair’s ergonomics.

Ole Wanscher (1903-1985) was integral to the core aesthetic and functionality of modern Danish design. He studied under Kaare Klint at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and later worked at Klint’s design studio before becoming an independent furniture designer. He helped shape Danish furniture design as a designer and as an educator when he took over Klint’s professorship at the Academy.
