Against the hotel's clean architectural lines, he introduced a softer, more organic form that offered guests a welcoming place to sit away from the surrounding activity. Developed through experiments with wire and plaster, the chair's enveloping silhouette became one of Jacobsen's most celebrated achievements. Its curved back and integrated sides create a distinctive, cocoon-like shape that feels intimate without compromising its striking visual presence. More than six decades after its introduction, the Egg Chair remains a defining example of Danish modernism, demonstrating how thoughtful design can unite aesthetics, comfort and functionality.

The Egg Chair's high, curved back and gently enclosing sides create a comfortable retreat for reading, relaxing or enjoying a quiet moment. Its adjustable tilt mechanism allows the seating position to be tailored to individual preferences, while the swivel function adds flexibility to everyday use. A carefully upholstered shell, padded with cold-cured polyurethane foam, enhances comfort and emphasises the chair's fluid contours. Beneath it, the elegant star base introduces a refined contrast between the sculptural upholstery and the chair's precise, architectural foundation. With a choice of premium fabrics and base finishes, the Fritz Hansen Egg Chair can be tailored to complement a variety of interiors, from understated contemporary living spaces to sophisticated hospitality and office environments.

Whether positioned beside a window, paired with a reading lamp or used to create a dedicated relaxation area, the Egg Chair makes a confident design statement.
